HoYoverse has never published an official power ranking for the Archons. There is no tier list, no in-game index, and no developer statement that names one god supreme above the others. What exists is a body of confirmed lore — war records, geographical feats, divine authority events — from which a reasoned ranking can be built. This article builds that ranking and explains exactly what the evidence does and does not support.

“strongest Archon in Genshin Impact” Has Four Different Answers

The most common mistake in Genshin power discussions is treating “strongest” as a single, settled question. It isn’t. The answer changes depending on what you’re measuring.

If the question is best overall combat record, the answer is Zhongli. If the question is strongest single destructive feat, the answer is Raiden Ei. If the question is strongest known Natlan warrior-Archon figure, the answer is Mavuika. If the question is most consequential divine-authority act, the answer is Focalors.

Conflating these produces the confident-sounding but unsupported claims that often dominate power-scaling discussions. The analysis below treats each Archon on the evidence available.

Zhongli: The Strongest Overall Lore Record

If you need one answer grounded in the broadest body of confirmed evidence, Zhongli is it.

His lore spans thousands of years and covers an unusually wide range of opponents. During the Archon War he fought and defeated numerous rival gods, shaping the political and physical structure of Liyue in the process. After the war, his confirmed victories include defeating Osial with a field of enormous stone lances, sealing Azhdaha beneath the earth after the dragon’s rebellion made him a threat to Liyue, and being one of the powers Orobashi could not overcome before the serpent god fled into the Dark Sea. That last point matters in the Raiden Ei debate: Orobashi’s lore includes earlier defeat or retreat before his later death in Inazuma, so Raiden’s killing blow was not the serpent god’s only major encounter with an Archon-level power.

No other Archon’s lore produces a comparable résumé. Breadth across history, variety of opponents, and repeated confirmed victories across different eras — Zhongli has all three. That is what separates a career record from a single spectacular moment, and it is why “strongest Archon overall” points to Zhongli when the question is strictly about what the lore confirms.

Raiden Ei: The Strongest Single Feat

Raiden Ei holds the most geographically dramatic confirmed feat of any Archon. When Musou no Hitotachi struck Orobashi on Yashiori Island, it did not merely kill the serpent god — it cleaved the island, creating the canyon now called Musoujin Gorge. That strike permanently altered the physical map of Inazuma. Among the known Archons, Raiden Ei has the clearest single-strike confirmed “one blow changed the terrain” feat.

The honest framing is this: Raiden Ei may have the highest single-attack ceiling of any Archon. The question is whether one world-altering strike constitutes a stronger overall record than Zhongli’s millennia-spanning body of victories. It doesn’t — but it does make Raiden the strongest challenger to Zhongli’s placement and the correct answer whenever the specific question is about raw destructive output. Mavuika: Top-Tier Contender, Not Confirmed Supreme

Mavuika entered the story as Natlan’s current Pyro Archon and the holder of the title God of War. Her lore profile explicitly describes her as the pinnacle of Natlan’s strength. That language strongly places her in the top tier of the power conversation.

The critical word is “Natlan’s.” That descriptor is a regional superlative, not a cross-continental one. The game has not produced a direct comparison between Mavuika and Zhongli or Raiden Ei, and treating a nation-specific label as a global confirmation would overreach what the text actually states. She belongs in every serious top-tier discussion — but the current evidence does not clearly place her above Zhongli’s career record or Raiden’s single-strike ceiling. Writing “Mavuika is officially the strongest Archon” is not supported by the lore.

Focalors: Divine Authority, Not a Combat Record

Focalors executed one of the most consequential acts in the game’s story. Over centuries, she maintained a deception designed to fool the Heavenly Principles, destroyed the divine throne of the Hydro Archon, and transferred elemental authority over Hydro to the dragon sovereign Neuvillette. The scale of planning and the divine implications of dismantling an Archon’s throne are genuinely extraordinary.

This is, however, a feat of strategy and systemic manipulation — not combat strength. Focalors is never presented as a frontline war Archon, and the Fontaine arc gives her no combat résumé comparable to Zhongli or Raiden’s. Her power is best understood as exceptional divine cunning and institutional authority. Placing her above the others on raw combat grounds would require importing a combat interpretation onto a feat that is explicitly non-combat in nature.

Nahida and Venti: Why They Rank Lower

Nahida’s power is tied to Irminsul, dreams, memory, and knowledge rather than direct battlefield dominance. She is not presented as a war Archon at any point in her arc. Her connection to Irminsul makes her extraordinarily significant in worldbuilding terms, but that influence operates on an informational and consciousness level, not through direct martial force. She is a god of wisdom, and her story reflects that distinction consistently.

Venti is the most contested case because his historical feats — reshaping Mondstadt’s landscape and hurling or splitting mountains during Barbatos’ terraforming of the region — are genuinely impressive, and many players argue he conceals more power than he shows. The complicating factor is that Venti himself, in confirmed lore, explicitly calls himself the weakest of the Archons. A self-assessment from a primary in-universe source carries significant weight. Until HoYoverse produces story content that contradicts or recontextualizes that claim, the defensible position is to rank Venti last among the fully introduced Archons discussed here — while acknowledging that his true ceiling remains an open question.

Final Ranking

“HoYoverse confirmed Zhongli is the strongest Archon” — No such confirmation exists; this is an inference from the lore record. “Mavuika is officially the strongest Archon” — her title applies to Natlan specifically, not across all seven nations. “Raiden is stronger than Zhongli, confirmed” — one larger single feat does not override a broader historical record. “Venti is hiding his true power” — possible, but speculation; current text does not support it.

The accurate framing in each case: Zhongli has the strongest confirmed overall record. Raiden Ei has the strongest single confirmed feat. Mavuika is a legitimate top-tier contender whose full standing relative to the others remains unsettled. Future story content — particularly anything that provides direct cross-Archon comparisons — can and likely will shift this ranking.

7. Venti

Surprisingly, Venti is considered the least powerful Archon in Genshin Impact. He used to be in charge of Mondstadt, a place known for wind and freedom.

However, since freedom and ruling don’t go together, Mondstadt and its people are now independent of Archon’s control. This means Venti isn’t seen as vital because the people of Mondstadt have the power to determine their fate. He is frail. In the story quest “La Signora,” the 8th Harbinger could steal and trounce his Gnosis.

Even though he used to be one of the strongest Archons and could create destructive black holes, we never really saw his true power because he rarely fights and has very little strength remaining. That’s why he is considered the weakest Archon in the game.

6. Nahida

Nahida is the second Dendro Archon of the Nation of Wisdom, Sumeru. At the beginning of the Sumeru storyline, it was made clear that Nahida isn’t physically strong like other Archons. However, she is known for her wisdom.

People say she is one of the wisest individuals in Teyvat and cares deeply for her people. Before Nahida, the original Archon of Sumeru was called “The Greater Lord Rukkhadevata.”

In the story quest, we learn that Nahida came from an Irminsul branch, where Rukkhadevata’s consciousness and the history of Teyvat’s memories are stored. Venti once said, “The more people worship Archons, the more powerful they’ll be.”

Since Rukkhadevata’s passing, the people of Sumeru stopped worshipping Nahida and rejected her as their god. That’s why she isn’t considered a strong Archon in Genshin Impact.

5. Focalors

Focalors is the ruler of Fontaine, a place known for justice and water powers. We don’t know much about her personality, but she has a unique way of doing things and likes to be present during trials in her nation.

Focalors was mentioned by Nahida during a story quest, saying, “There’s a chief justice in Fontaine. Generally speaking, the Hydro Archon Focalors won’t preside over individual trials. However, even then, Focalors will make her present at just about every trail.”

Our Genshin Impact 4.0 article talked about Focalors’ design and unique personality, but there isn’t much information about her yet. Fontaine is coming on August 16, so we’ll have to wait and see how strong she is. Based on what we know so far, it seems reasonable to say that Focalors is the fifth most powerful Archon on this list.

4. Murata

Murata is the leader of Natlan, a nation known for its warlike nature. We don’t know much about Murata except her fiery personality. In the Genshin Impact manga, Venti mentions interacting with her and describes her as occasionally annoying.

We know that the people of Natlan, including Murata, have red hair and muscular bodies. Venti talks about this in the manga called ‘Songs of the Wind.’

He mentions how warriors from different tribes honor Murata through combat rituals and celebrate victories in her name. Venti also jokingly refers to her as obnoxious.

While we can’t accurately measure her power based on this information, considering her description and characteristics, we could speculate that she is the fourth strongest Archon in Genshin Impact’s world of Teyvat.

3. Ei, the Raiden Shogun

The Raiden Shogun is the ruler of a place called Inazuma, which has six islands. Before becoming the Electro Archon, the current ruler Ei had a sister named Raiden Makoto, who died during a big war.

Ei was very sad and isolated herself in a particular place called the Plane of Euthymia. She made two puppets to take care of Inazuma while she stayed there.

Ei didn’t like progress because it reminded her of the person she lost, so she wanted things to remain the same forever. She made a puppet named Scaramouche, but she let him go because he cried when he was born (in the story).

Then she made the Raiden Shogun because she wanted something that didn’t have emotions like humans and could go against the gods’ rules. The story says she defeated a snake god called Orobashi from Khaenri’ah with just one decisive strike.

She also killed La Signora, an essential member of the Harbingers group, with just one strike. This shows how mighty Raiden Ei/Shogun is. That’s why we think she is the third strongest Archon in Genshin Impact.”

2. Zhongli

The debate between Zhongli and Raiden Shogun in Genshin Impact has been going on for a while, but we’re here to settle it. As someone who plays Raiden Shogun, I think Zhongli is slightly more powerful than her, and I’ll explain why.

Zhongli, also known as Morax, lives in the wealthy lands of Liuye and now resides among regular people after the long Archon War in Teyvat 500 years ago.

According to the lore, Morax can defeat other gods and has sealed them away. He created the Yaksha, who helped him in the great Archon War. He also made Azhdaha, a creature who fought alongside him but was sealed away when he lost his memories and became dangerous.

It’s said that Morax used large rocks from Guyun stone as spears to defeat his enemies during the war. Additionally, he’s the oldest Archon, having been an Archon for almost 6,000 years! So, he deserves the second spot on the list of the strongest Archons in Genshin Impact.

1. The Tsaritsa – Strongest Genshin Impact Archon

The Tsaritsa, also known as the Cryo Archon, is considered the strongest Archon in Teyvat. She rules the nation of Snezhnaya and has a group of followers called the Fatui.

The Tsaritsa used the Fatui to intimidate other countries. Among her followers are potent individuals known as “The Harbingers,” some of whom have abilities comparable to gods.

What makes the Tsaritsa the strongest Archon is that she has obtained three gnoses (symbols of power) belonging to other gods: Anemo, Electro, and Geo. She plans to “burn away the old world” and seize authority from the gods in Celestia.

The Tsaritsa’s most potent followers are the 11 Harbingers in the Fatui. So far, we have encountered four of them: Tartaglia (11th), Scaramouche (6th), La Signora (8th) (who is no longer alive), and Dottore (2nd). We will likely meet and fight Arlecchino (10th) in Fontaine, the Nation of Justice.

Overall, the Tsaritsa’s immense following, her possession of other gods’ gnoses, and the power of her Harbingers make her easily the most powerful Archon in Genshin Impact.

Varka, a character in Genshin Impact, has the potential to become a playable character in the game. What we currently know about him includes his abilities and the type of weapon he wields.

In Genshin Impact, several unreleased characters exist; among them, Varka is a mysterious figure. Clues about his existence have been dropped by HoYoverse through in-game references and character interactions, much like how they did with Baizhu and Kaveh.

As the present Grand Master and Knight of Boreas of the Knights of Favonius, Varka holds a significant position within Mondstadt. However, information regarding this formidable warrior remains limited at this time.

Who is Varka in Genshin Impact?

Varka, the present Grand Master of Mondstadt’s Knights of Favonius, has handed over all his responsibilities to Jean, the game’s 5-star Anemo character. Before the Traveler’s arrival, Varka led an expedition outside Mondstadt with several members of the Knights of Favonius.

However, the purpose of this expedition and what or who he is tracking remains unknown as he hasn’t appeared in the game’s story or side quests yet.

Despite not appearing, various characters describe Varka as tall and exceptionally strong, indicating his expertise in combat. Interestingly, one leaker contradicts the original assumptions about him, stating that Varka “looks young” and surprisingly lacks a beard.

While the HoYoverse has not yet disclosed Varka’s specific abilities and weapon type, it is worth noting that he played a crucial role in instructing Razor on how to use a claymore.

This information does not conclusively establish Varka as a claymore user, but it seems plausible, especially considering his esteemed position as one of Mondstadt’s most formidable individuals.

Childe is famously known to refer to Varka as the “titan of the Knights of Favonius” and has expressed a desire to test Varka’s combat skills. Additionally, the fact that the Grand Master is affiliated with Boreas, the Cryo Wolf boss in the game, might imply that Varka possesses either a Cryo or Anemo Vision.

Varka Release Date in Genshin Impact

The bigger long-term takeaway from the livestream is that Genshin Impact Version 6.5 launches on April 8, 2026. That gives players a proper update target instead of the usual patch-window guessing game. It also means banner planning now becomes real, not speculative.

The first banner phase is expected to run from April 8 to April 28, with the second phase following from April 28 to May 19. According to new leaks, farming Artifacts in Genshin Impact might get easier with the release of Natlan later this year. Natlan is the next major region, known as the Nation of Pyro. It’s set to come out with Version 5.0, which will also bring new Artifact strongboxes.

A leak from GuraLeak on Reddit suggests six new Artifact sets will be added: Deepwood Memories, Gilded Dreams, Desert Pavilion Chronicle, Flower of Paradise Lost, Vourukasha’s Glow, and something called “Narcissen.”

These strongboxes can help players optimize their farming process by converting unwanted Artifacts into specific ones they need.

Players usually get Artifacts from running Domains, but strongboxes offer a better chance of getting desired pieces.

This is especially helpful for sets like Flower of Paradise Lost, which is great for characters focusing on Dendro-related Elemental Reactions, and Desert Pavilion Chronicle, ideal for the character Wanderer.

While strongboxes don’t guarantee perfect stats, they increase the chances of getting useful Artifacts. This makes farming a bit less frustrating. However, the system still has its issues, like the random nature of drops and stats.
