On the other hand, the laptop market is a very different beast. Most modern laptop computers use Intel chipsets with integrated graphics. A previous Dell official mentioned that Intel’s portfolio is much larger than AMD’s and that Intel’s current laptop lineup features better CPUs than ever before.
Laptop Central Processing Units (CPUs) from Intel are powered by Alder Lake, exactly like desktop CPUs, and 12th Generation CPU-equipped laptops should be widely available. There are four different types of Alder Lake CPUs, including the low-power U models, the mid-range P models, and the high-power H and HX CPUs. While it’s true that higher wattage correlates to a speedier CPU on average, certain H and HX CPUs have fewer cores than P CPUs, so actual performance will rely on a number of other factors as well.
U- and P-type CPUs are typical among slimmer, lighter laptops that prioritize battery life, have passable integrated graphics, and deliver serviceable overall performance. Laptops with H and HX processors are designed for gaming and typically feature a discrete graphics processing unit (GPU) from either AMD or Nvidia (and soon, Intel GPUs).
Intel Vs AMD Performance
Despite the quality of AMD’s new Ryzen 6000 processors, the company is only able to compete in the low and mid-range markets. Techspot observed that the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 with a Ryzen 6000 processor couldn’t compete with more powerful processors like the Core i7-12700H. However, it was able to hold its own against less powerful 12th-generation processors. The fact that the 12700H isn’t even Intel’s fastest mobile CPU is bad news for AMD already. The most significant challenge for AMD is that its most powerful laptop CPUs only have 8 cores, whereas Intel’s most powerful CPUs have 16.

AMD follows a naming scheme similar to Intel’s, giving consumers a choice between tiny and light notebooks and powerful gaming laptops. Although Ryzen 6000 is the most recent model, Ryzen 5000 central processing units (CPUs) may still be present in some laptops. Since they share the same underlying architecture, the performance boosts offered by Ryzen 6000 aren’t particularly substantial.
Both AMD and Intel provide respectable performance in both professional and recreational settings; however, there are many more factors to consider than just the CPU when shopping for a laptop, making it essential to read reviews of specific models. That’s especially essential in 2022, as Intel strives to resecure its historic position in the market versus AMD, which is aiming for more market share.
Is there A preference?
For ordinary online browsing, watching Netflix, and answering emails, Intel and AMD CPUs will give you outstanding performance straight out of the box. However, there are situations in which one company’s offerings outperform the competition.
Intel is the ideal option, especially for laptops, if you want to use your processor for severe multithreaded operations such as video editing or transcoding, or heavy multitasking activities with tens of browser tabs open. In the personal computer market, AMD is a close second to Intel. Both AMD and Intel are fine choices for desktop use, whether for work or pleasure or just for gaming. At the upper end, the Core i9-12900KS is the greatest CPU overall, but if you truly want to game at more than 200 fps in every game, you’ll want the Ryzen 7 5800X3D.
Until you get to extremely powerful and high-performance laptops, you can’t go wrong with either Intel or AMD. Intel has 16-core CPUs, while AMD can only muster 8-core CPUs, so it’s not that AMD is awful for the high-end, they just simply don’t exist there at the time. Right now is an interesting time for AMD and Intel, though. Since both AMD and Intel are releasing new generations within the next few months, it’s wise to hold off on upgrading your PC until we have a better understanding of how the next generation will play out. Intel currently holds a minor performance advantage.
We at CD PROJEKT RED can’t wait for the release of the Edgerunners Update, and with the premiere of our first anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners just around the corner (September 13! ), we thought now would be a good moment to talk more about the connections between the two projects. Take my word for it; the name is just the beginning.
Edgerunners Update Patch
When we first encounter David Martinez in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, he is a homeless teen selling illegal brain dances (CBDs) to support himself and his mother Gloria. It seemed only natural that we incorporate her bright yellow jacket, which she later gives to David and which becomes a defining visual element of the anime, in the most recent patch. Patrick Mills, who helped choose which elements from the anime would make it into Cyberpunk 2007, agrees:
David’s jacket was a natural fit because it is a recognizable symbol from the show. We can’t wait for players to actually hold the item in their hands, just as in the anime! I imagine it will be fun for those who haven’t seen the anime to have a new jacket to show off and pose in Photo Mode with, while those who are familiar with the series will appreciate it as another link between the two worlds.
With the advent of the Wardrobe, our transmogrification system, this Legendary item becomes even more desirable. Players no longer have to sacrifice their fashion sense for protection, as they can dress for the grim future without compromising their builds. David’s stay in Night City was explosive and bloody, and he left more than just his jacket behind. Additionally, the shotgun “Guts,” which was added in the previous next-gen update along with DualSense’s Adaptive Triggers capabilities, can be found and used by players. We put a lot of consideration into how to blend the two settings into this update, from the item descriptions to the conversation.
Edgerunners Update Patch
Writer Rafa Babraj established his stance early on: We tried to incorporate the anime’s cast and plot into the game as seamlessly as possible, and I like to think we came up with a neat narrative solution. At the same time, we wanted to leave some of the story in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners a mystery, so we only revealed a few details about the anime that would pique players’ interest. We sought to include the characters’ individual traits in the dialogue they use and the descriptions of their belongings in the game.
While the stories are distinct, Babraj says, “V and David actually have a lot in common – what exactly that is, gamers and viewers will have to find for themselves!” A new mission will also be available, one that would take players to David’s jacket and fully connect the two realms. Director of Quest Pawe Sasko and his crew made sure the video game and anime were compatible with one another.
Since the visual styles of Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners are so different, we had to come up with interesting and plausible ways to connect the two-game universes. I requested Danisz Markiewicz, the designer of Expert Quest, to view the anime and offer narrative suggestions that would expand upon the tale presented in Edgerunners and properly integrate it with the game. He suggested including a scene from the anime as part of the braindance mechanic. That was a fantastic suggestion, and we immediately began brainstorming potential implementations. We were able to pull it out with the help of several other developers, our collaborators at Netflix, and a dash of imagination. I’m looking forward to reading online when our participants figure out the two minor mysteries hidden within the braindance itself.
The process of developing the connections between the two storylines was not a one-way path but rather something spontaneous and mutually beneficial. To paraphrase Sasko: Those familiar with the game will have no trouble recognizing the settings of pivotal scenes because Studio Trigger did such a fantastic job bringing Night City to life in the anime.
It’s intriguing to me that the game served as inspiration for Trigger, and then their incredible work served as inspiration for us as we worked to improve the game in the Edgerunners Update. As a result, the braindance, equipment, and other minor occurrences in the quest all have significant and meaningful connections to the overarching plot of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. To show our appreciation to those who have supported Cyberpunk 2077 and the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime, we created this task.
This article only scratches the surface of the anime-related features introduced in the Edgerunners Update. A playable Roach Race minigame, new weapons, new objectives, and the option to pose Nibbles in Photo Mode are just the beginning of what’s in store for players. I don’t understand it. As this month progresses, the 2022 PlayStation Showcase looks more and more likely, but Sony has said nothing to confirm it. The question is, why must this occur? With so many exciting PlayStation 5 releases on the horizon, including some that are arriving sooner rather than later like God of War Ragnarok, a September event would be the ideal time to broadcast an in-depth discussion of the system for an entire hour. Of course, unless Sony confirms otherwise, you shouldn’t take this as gospel that an event is happening. Let’s consult our crystal ball, though, and try to guess what may transpire during the PlayStation Showcase this year.

Unsurprising Foresight
What, then, can you count on seeing at the PlayStation Showcase? If I included them in my list of wagers, it would defeat the purpose of writing this kind of piece. Now that Game Informer has shown off some hands-on time with God of War: Ragnarök, you can bet that a longer gameplay trailer is on the way.
For even more PSVR 2 content, Before its 2023 release, you can watch some extra gameplay and learn more about the headset in the trailers for Horizon and Resident Evil Village. Latest PS+ additions (new window): While Sony has already revealed the games coming out in September (including all the Sly Cooper titles for Premium), they will likely take this opportunity to detail the other content that Premium customers will have access to. With that out of the way, I’d like to propose some even more far-fetched aspirations and predictions.
First Guess: The Action of Spider-Man 2
If we look at what happened before the release of the original Spider-Man on PS4, we can infer that we should get a playable preview for Spider-Man 2 now, rather than wait until 2023. But what exactly will we see? Hollywood-level pandemonium and combat should be expected, especially considering how well Insomniac has nailed the web slinger’s control smoothness. The catch, as teased in a clip released last year, is that it’s co-op multiplayer, with one player taking on the role of Peter Parker and the other of Miles Morales. I’m referring to a clever combination of finishes, banter, and plans in which one Spider-Man removes combat foes while the other deals with snipers. You can play co-op throughout the entire story, which is the major gamble that will sweeten it.

Observation No. 2: PlayStation Cloud Gaming
A lot has been said about why now is the perfect time for Sony to launch PlayStation Cloud Gaming as part of PlayStation Plus Premium. It’s now or never for a genuine challenger to the Backbone One PlayStation Edition and Xbox Cloud Gaming, which both provide limited cloud access to the PS Plus catalog via a smaller number of dedicated applications and just the Xbox One’s Edge browser.
But here’s the bonus, which is more of a wish than a forecast because I seriously doubt the corporation will ever do this: Sony has cracked the DRM code and now all of your purchased games (whether digital or physical) may be played in the cloud. Inflation means we can’t afford to keep the PS5 on all the time to access games through remote play, thus getting this right would be a significant win for consumers.
Third Prediction: A Multiplayer Teaser For The Last of Us
Now that The Last of Us Part I has been released, the focus can shift to the multiplayer project. While some intriguing concept art was shown at Gamescom 2022, the time has come for a teaser video. Not until at least next summer, in my opinion. It would be helpful, though, if there were a trailer or anything that introduced the setting, the many types of PVE and PVP combat available, and the telltale signals that you were in a Battle Royale mode on a massive battlefield with just one goal in mind: to survive.
Spider-Man, as predicted in Prediction #4 The PC version of “Miles Morales” is scheduled for release before the holidays. There’s no denying that Spider-Man on PC and Steam Deck are both amazing, but what about Miles Morales? Given that its planned release in December is common knowledge, now would be a good moment to release a trailer for the game. This is the most logical step in order to appease the PC audience, as Miles Morales takes place in a wintery New York City decked up with holiday decorations. If I’m correct, I’ll be bragging on Laptop Mag’s Twitter on Friday, December 9, but only time will tell.
Fifth Hypothesis: We Have A Preview Of Supernatural Studios’ Upcoming Project
The exclusive scoop I obtained on the mind behind SSX producing a new snowboarding game, codenamed Project Gravity, remains one of my proudest moments here at Laptop Mag. Shortly after this article was published, the Supernatural Studios team announced their partnership with a “major worldwide publisher” and entered stealth mode, therefore we have no further information.
If I had to make a prediction, it would be more along the lines of wishing upon a monkey’s paw, throwing salt over one shoulder, and crossing one’s fingers. If only I could get a preview of what’s to come, it could be enough to satisfy my curiosity.
Sixth Prediction: The Metal Gear Solid Remaster Trilogy Is Announced
Originally, I was only going to include five forecasts, but I’ve been really interested in some breaking news that’s happened recently. At the Tokyo Game Show, Konami announced a new installment in a “world-loved series,” and there have been growing rumors of a restored Metal Gear Solid trilogy, all of which were covered by Gamesradar.
Despite its widespread distribution, the Metal Gear Solid series has, in my opinion, always felt like a PlayStation exclusive. I think a PlayStation Showcase would be a fantastic way to reveal this revamped trilogy while Konami celebrates the release of their latest installment in whatever series. And who knows, maybe that may be the foundation for a new Metal Gear Solid 4! Do me a favor and give me what I want, Konami.

The clear standout is Disney Dreamlight Valley, which is essentially the Disney+ catalog filtered via Animal Crossing and The Sims. It is a highly anticipated life-sim that is ideal for people who travel to Disneyland at least once yearly (you know who you are). It’s a shame that console players who haven’t yet purchased an Xbox Series X or S won’t be able to try out Metal: Hellsinger, which is a rhythm-based first-person shooter with strong echoes of Doom Eternal.
I’m looking forward to seeing what it’s all about, but it’s a bummer that they won’t be able to.

The gloomy stealth video game A Plague Tale: Innocence has been a mainstay on Kotaku’s list of the top games on Game Pass for a long time. (The release of its sequel, titled A Plague Tale: Requiem, is scheduled for the following month.) Final Fantasy XIII is undoubtedly one of the most exciting entries in Square Enix’s RPG series, even though fans have strong opinions on the game. The platforming in Lost Words: Beyond the Page may be simplistic, but the game’s top-notch narrative, which was written by Rhianna Pratchett, who also wrote for Tomb Raider and Mirror’s Edge, serves as the foundation for a heartbreaking story that is wrapped in fantastical escapism.
The cooperative stealth game Aragami 2 is a lot of fun to play with a friend. The skateboard is very similar to THPS, except you play as a young bird.
