We can’t tell you how many times I’ve forgotten there’s a main game to play since I was too preoccupied with chiseling my character’s jaw, making it awkward and oversized. Many RPGs provide tools for character development, and Rise of the Ronin is no exception.

Not only that, but Team Ninja’s past works—Nioh and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty—provided a great deal of leeway in character development, and it would be a tragedy if Rise of the Ronin chose to skip this most enjoyable aspect.

So, let’s look at Rise of the Ronin’s character creation process and what it comprises.

Does Rise of the Ronin Have Character Creation?

Breathe an air of relief: Rise of the Ronin has a character creation option that allows you to build your original character and give them the identity you choose.

In the official FAQ for Rise of the Ronin on the PlayStation website, a question titled “Is there a character creator feature in Rise of the Ronin?” is answered simply, “Yes.” You can completely design your character’s visual features, such as their face and body form, hair, voice, and so on.”

While it isn’t official yet, I’ll go ahead and claim this will be the first thing you do in Rise of the Ronin. Your first objective, as with Nioh, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, and most other Soulslike games, will undoubtedly be to carefully create your character’s appearance.

Then, once you’ve created your character, they’ll emerge in the first cutscene, allowing you to watch your hard work come to life before your very eyes. It’s not the only thing you may customize to your liking; you can also modify the Rise of the Ronin difficulty settings.

Rise of the Ronin Character Creation

The first thing that threw me off guard was the character creation at the beginning of the game. Before this preview opportunity, I had only viewed a few snippets of the game, paying little attention to the subtleties.

That doesn’t mean I wasn’t interested. In reality, it is just the contrary. But the previous two months have been so crazy that I haven’t had time to truly dig into it. I digress.

So, character creation. This was… enjoyable. When I learned that this was possible for two characters, my thoughts immediately turned to Kenshin Himura and my favorite Japanese person, Momo Hirai of TWICE. I know it’s quite a difference, but those were the “designs” I chose at first.

Character creation is fairly detailed. You can choose whether you’re male or female, and the customizing options are rather extensive. Enough for me to develop some versions of actual characters and persons that many people are familiar with.

You could probably go crazy with it if you wanted to, but I didn’t have the time. As with other games that allow for character creation and customization, I’m excited to see what the broader community of players will create.

With the fact that I play a wide range of games from various genres, I am still unfamiliar with many aspects of the video game zeitgeist. One of these blind spots is Korean MMOs such as Nexon’s Vindictus, which attract a large number of players in Asia but have had less of an impact in the United States.

Fortunately, my unfamiliarity with that environment did not detract from the enjoyment of the Vindictus: Defying Fate playtest.

Rather than being another enormous MMO, Vindictus: Defying Fate is a difficult action RPG inspired by Dark Souls. Testers will have access to a build of the game that includes a demo-level combat mode with two playable characters, Fiona and Lann.

Vindictus: Defying Fate is under production for PC and consoles, but the release date and business plan have yet to be confirmed. The game takes place in the same realm as Nexon’s 2010 MMORPG Vindictus. It includes a medieval fantasy setting based on Celtic mythology.

So far, all Dragonflight patches have been two months apart, but this one could be released in April because Blizzard hasn’t said much about this season.

The single update on the next season was released on March 12, and it addressed the planned adjustments to dungeons in season four. This is purely guesswork based on the patch roadmap, and things could change.

The new PUBG Mobile version 3.1 patch notes detail all of the new features that will be added to the game in the upcoming update:

• Throw the Grooving Grenade to summon a genie and create a temporary dancing zone at the landing spot. Players in the zone are forced to dance with the genie.
• Throw multiple Grooving Grenades into the same area to enlarge the dance zone and refresh its duration.

• Portals can be used to teleport between each other.
• Portals can be used to teleport throwables, consumables, vehicles, and players.
• Treasure Hunt Mechanic
• At the beginning of the match, all players will receive a Treasure Map. After using it, a treasure location will be marked on the map.

• Crates are divided into regular and premium crates. Find crates of different values to obtain supplies.
• There could be a Vault Key inside any crate. Open a Treasure Vault for a chance to obtain rare supplies.

• There is a butler in each home. Players will be given a male and a female butler that will be unlocked at Home Lv. 3.
• Added a new Home Shop to the Cheer Park, where players can freely purchase home items and participate in Lucky Spins.
• Players can freely build their dream homes. It supports group editing with up to 4 players.
• Visit other players’ homes and explore the infinite possibilities of this new feature.
• Plant a mysterious Home Tree and harvest Home Coins every day.
• Players can interact with friends by leaving messages in their homes.
• Players can release messengers from their home and receive messengers from other homes.
• Players can display in-game photos on the Photo Wall. They can also upload their own photos from their mobile phones.
• Players can freely build their dream homes. It supports group editing with up to 4 players.
• Visit other players’ homes and explore the infinite possibilities of this new feature.
• Plant a mysterious Home Tree and harvest Home Coins every day.
• Players can interact with friends by leaving messages in their homes.
• Players can release messengers from their home and receive messengers from other homes.
• Players can display in-game photos on the Photo Wall. They can also upload their own photos from their mobile phones.
• Players can set unique background music, place a Music Player to play acquired music, and play music instruments in their homes, as well as invite friends to play along.
• Players can interact with various objects in their homes, such as chairs, sofas, beds, lamps, two-seater swings, speakers, guitars, pianos, violins, and more.
• Complete home missions to get fabulous rewards.

• Home Camera & Album: Added a camera mode and custom camera angles for home. After taking an image, players can save them to their mobile phones or their home photo album.
• Home Gift Sending: When visiting someone’s Home, you can send them Popularity Gifts. The gift effect will have an effect on the Home’s scenery.
• Home Loot: Spend more than 5 minutes in each Ranked Classic Mode match to participate in the Home Loot Draw.

• New Map Template: Similar to the Nimbus Island of the themed mode, it comes with a night sky.
• New Gameplay Template – Bio Infection: At the start of the game, a random player will be turned into a zombie and can infect other players to turn them into zombies.
